THRESHOLD COMPLEX EXPLORATION LOG
Designation / Log ID: 34-E31
Apparent Date/Time: 06 September 2026 / 09:14 (local) — secondary stamp reads 17:03 14 March 1977
Entry Method: Single sliding hatch marked “C-31 CHLORINE CONTACT – RESTRICTED”. Exterior hatch clear aperture measures 0.91 m × 1.37 m. Interior aperture measures 1.04 m × 1.22 m on entry and 0.83 m × 1.51 m on exit.
Environmental Baseline
Lighting: mercury vapor lamps, color temperature measured at 3800 K. Intensity constant at 67 lux.
Ambient temperature: 18.7 °C. Humidity: 63 %.
Background sound: continuous low-frequency pump hum at 48 Hz. Baseline reading 29 dB.
Air movement: none detected. Barometric pressure 1013.2 hPa on entry; 1009.6 hPa after 7 m of travel.
Spatial Observations
Chamber estimated 18 m long by 4.8 m wide by 3.2 m high. Laser measurement returns 13.1 m long by 5.9 m wide by 2.4 m high.
Floor: sealed concrete with green chemical-resistant coating. Coating thickness measures 1.8 mm. Surface remains uniform under repeated contact.
Walls: epoxy-coated concrete with embedded sensor conduits. Paint thickness measures 0.6 mm. Surface remains uniform under repeated contact.
Ceiling: exposed structural concrete with three recessed lamp fixtures. Fixture count remains three after five visual inventories.
Repeating motif: every 2.7 m a residual chlorine sensor is mounted at 1.6 m height. Sensor housing diameter measures 0.12 m. Display readings are identical across all sensors.
Anomalies
Visual inventory of contact baffles returns 9. Physical inventory returns 9. Measured free chlorine residual equals 0.0 mg/L while calculated system demand across the same baffles equals 2.4 mg/L.
Floor remains level under spirit level. Measured water film on the lower wall panels slopes 1.8° toward the east wall. Slope reverses after 5 minutes of continuous observation without change in physical orientation.
Chamber pressure measures 1013 hPa while the external hatch indicator reads 1017 hPa. Seal integrity lights remain green.
Sound of residual dosing pump arrives 1.9 seconds after the corresponding surface disturbance is detected. Delay increases by 0.27 s for every additional 1.5 m of distance from the entry hatch.
Humidity at mid-chamber remains 63 % while condensation forms on the baffle exteriors after 6 minutes of observation. Condensation evaporates without measurable change in local humidity.
Local magnetic field strength measures 0.3 gauss at floor level and 1.7 gauss at 1.4 m height. Field direction reverses after 11 minutes without change in chamber state.
Chlorine residual reading on the sensor array decreases by 0.4 mg/L over 9 minutes while measured flow at all inlet valves remains 0 L/min.
Entity Notes
None observed.
At the 6.4 m mark a localized temperature rise of 3.2 °C occurs across a 1.3 m radius. Rise persists for 7 seconds then collapses. No visible source or airflow change accompanies the event.
Exit / Continuity Status
Exit achieved by retracing path through the sliding hatch. Exterior aperture on exit measures 0.91 m × 1.37 m. Residual effect: mild chlorine taste in the mouth lasting 19 minutes. No further residual effects noted after 35 minutes of observation outside the threshold.
